Default Herman Melville.....?

I watched the adaptation of his book last night and the rest this morning, a thoroughly good read and film, a bit dated, but, brilliantly executed by no less than Richard Baseheart, Leo Genn and Gregory Peck in 'Moby Dick'.
I recommend the film to anyone....

Herman Melville (August 1, 1819 – September 28, 1891) was an American novelist, short story writer, essayist and poet. His first two books gained much attention, though they were not bestsellers, and his popularity declined precipitously after only a few years. By the time of his death he had been almost completely forgotten, but his longest novel, Moby-Dick — largely considered a failure during his lifetime, and most responsible for Melville's fall from favor with the reading public — was recognized in the 20th century as one of the chief literary masterpieces of both American and world literature.

I remember reading this at school, when we had to read aloud to the class, I was about three chapters ahead of the class when it was my turn and I got the cane, most unfair I thought, didn't stop me from reading it very quickly.

Currently reading 'Far From The Madding Crowd' again, just finished Moby Dick and film, recently read Little Dorritt, do you detect a system here. Yes, I am comparing book to film and the books are well ahead so far, there are other examples I have indulged in, but it becomes rather a bore to listen to me prattle on about it.....
